Network+ is a respected, vendor-neutral networking certification that proves you can design, configure, manage and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks. It is a natural step after A+ and a strong foundation for Security+, Cloud+ or vendor certifications, because networking underpins almost every IT and cybersecurity role.
Network+ is an intermediate-level exam. The current version, N10-009, has up to 90 multiple-choice and performance-based questions, a 90-minute time limit and a passing score of 720 on a 100–900 scale. Subnetting, troubleshooting scenarios and performance-based questions are where candidates most need practice, so labs are an important part of preparation.
No — there are no mandatory prerequisites for this course or the exam. CompTIA recommends A+ certification and around 9–12 months of hands-on experience in a junior network administrator or network support role, but motivated learners with basic IT knowledge can prepare directly for Network+.
Network+ supports roles such as Junior Network Administrator, Network Support Technician, Network Operations Specialist, Technical Support Specialist and Systems Administrator. Certification strengthens your applications, while hiring also depends on your hands-on experience and local job market.
