- Evaluate risks and determine potential impacts on the organization, enabling the organization to determine the most effective use of resources to reduce those potential impacts.

- Identify and prioritize the organization's functions and processes to determine which will have the greatest impact if they are unavailable.
- Evaluate the resources needed to support the Business Impact Assessment process.
- Analyze the results to identify any gaps between the organization's requirements and its ability to meet them.

- Select cost-effective strategies to reduce the deficiencies identified during the risk assessment and BIA processes.

- Develop and assist the organization in implementing an incident management system that defines organizational roles, lines of command, and escalation processes.
- Define the requirements for developing and implementing the organization's incident response plan. Ensure that incident response is coordinated with external organizations in a timely and effective manner, as necessary.

Business Continuity Plan (BCP) Development and Implementation
- Document the plans to be used during an incident that will allow the organization to continue operating.

Awareness and Training Programs
- Establish and maintain training and awareness programs that enable personnel to respond to incidents calmly and efficiently.

Business Continuity Plan Exercise, Assessment, and Maintenance
- Establish a program for exercise, assessment, and maintenance to maintain a state of readiness.

- Provide a framework for developing a crisis communications plan. - Ensure that the crisis communications plan includes timely and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Coordination with Authorities
- Establish policies and procedures to coordinate incident response activities with government agencies.
