I was resetting passwords on a helpdesk. Six months later I was on a SOC floor.

The labs were the difference. I had read about SQL injection for years, but actually running one and then patching it is what made it stick in the interview.

Network Administrator Penetration Tester at Corvus Defence

P Priya Raman CPENT
I came in with no security background at all, just a decade in general IT, and I assumed I was too late to switch. The instructor mapped out exactly which certifications mattered for the roles I was applying to, and I had two offers within four months of finishing.

Everything else you're probably wondering

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, ask us directly — we reply within one working day.

Still not sure?

Talk to an advisor who has actually delivered these courses, not a call centre.

Ask your question
Do I need existing cyber security experience?

Not for the entry-level certifications. A general IT background — helpdesk, networking or systems administration — is enough to start with Certified Network Defender. The advanced tracks such as CPENT do assume prior hands-on experience, and we will tell you honestly if you are not ready for one yet.

Is the certification exam included in the price?

Yes. Every course price includes the official exam voucher and the official courseware from the accrediting body. There is no separate exam fee to budget for.

What happens if I don't pass first time?

You get a free retake. Most people pass first time, but the retake is included so a single bad day does not cost you the certification or another course fee.

Can my employer be invoiced directly?

Yes. We invoice employers directly and can work to a purchase order, so you do not have to pay up front and claim it back. Tell us on the enquiry form that your employer is funding it and we will send everything your finance team needs.

How much time does it take each week?

Live courses run as full days across a set week. Self-paced study is typically six to eight hours a week over a few months, and the lab environment stays available throughout so you can practise around your job.

Is the training in person or online?

Both. You can attend in person or join the same live cohort online, and the hands-on labs run in your browser either way — nothing needs installing on a work laptop you may not control.

Next cohort starts 7 September
